Selected Creative Projects
"MAYA"
An excerpt of my new evening-length work in process titled "Maya" premiered on March 22, 2024 at the New Brunswick Performing Arts Center in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Presented by Mason Gross Dance of Rutgers University, this work abstracts and embodies an experience of awakening consciousness.
"TRIO G"
Company of Collaborative Artists (CoCA) dress rehearsal performance in Rutgers University Alumni Concert, September 28, 2023 at the New Brunswick Performing Arts Center (NBPAC). Presented by Mason Gross Dance Department, Rutgers University.
"STEP INTO OUR HOUSE"
This site-specific performance by the Company of Collaborative Artists (CoCA) was presented by WestFest Dance for their April 2022 festival at the historic WestBeth Artists Housing Complex in West Village, NY. This dance performance was filmed and edited by Demoie Montego (Latent Films) and presented in collaboration, featuring in a special behind the scenes-making of video.
"SUMMER 21: GREENPOINT"
This video is a recorded work-in-progress by Camille Rennie that explores an alternative ending to an earlier work entitled, “yoked” (2018) which illustrates a story of attachment between two people. The film above captures CoCA company artists as they workshop the developing duet during our outdoor rehearsal pop-up at Greenpoint Terminal Market in Brooklyn, NY. Filmed by Latent Films.
"SUMMER 21: ATLANTIC CITY"
Created in CoCA's first residency at Stockton University (July 2021), this 12-minute work is a one-take recording of a live CoCA performance on the Atlantic City boardwalk in front of Stockton's beach campus residence hall. Recorded on my iPhone.
"SPRING 21: HOBOKEN"
In the summer of 2021, I made the commitment to continue to bring dance art to the people despite the global shutdown and closing of theaters and traditional performance spaces. I decided to bring my creative process and performances outdoors and into public parks and city avenues, making dance art accessible to anyone we encountered in passing. By meeting people and communities where they already at, CoCA was able to provide new and unsuspecting audiences with a unique artistic experience to enhance or awaken their day. This is the first film we created outside in the city streets of Hoboken on my iPhone.
"TIMELESS"
In the fall of 2020 after quarantine was lifted, I met with the dancers of Oca Dance Company at a request from their Director, a close personal friend. Everyone was craving movement and normalcy at that time. We met outside in the park and filmed this on a cold winter day at the Hoboken River waterfront. This piece was created to reflect a moment in time. Filmed by Demoie Montego, Latent Films.
"CIRA GREEN PLAY (HIS & HERS)"
This video was created in collaboration with one of my best friends on a beautiful Fall day in 2020. We hope you enjoy the landscape as much as we did. Collaboration with William Issac Bridges, shot on my iPhone.
"2020 SOLO SERIES"
A series of solo dance films I made at home (indoor and outdoor) in quarantine 2020. Made with iPhone.
"A CHRISTMAS CAROL"
I had the pleasure to work as Choreographer in the production of "A Christmas Carol" for the Tony Award-winning regional theater group, Crossroads Theatre Company! Directed by Marshall Jones, III, this production ran as part of the inaugural season opening of the New Brunswick Performing Arts Center (NBPAC) in New Brunswick, New Jersey. I hope that you will enjoy this brief highlight reel of my choreographic work, performed by the incredible and talented cast of ACC.
"ELLA'S TRIP"
My MFA thesis was presented in two versions: a written paper, presented and defended to a panel of faculty, and; the artistic production of Ella's Trip, which ran for two sold out audiences at the Loree Dance Theater in New Brunswick on March 29th and 30th, 2019.
"Conceived and created by Camille Moten Rennie, Ella’s Trip © is an immersive dance performance event that explores the aesthetic and energy of the emergent BIPOC performance art of The 2020s: the New Harlem Renaissance. Taking place inside of a re-imagined contemporary jazz nightclub, this evening-length work illustrates the complex stories and relations of young artists today, narrated through the body and with the artistic and interdisciplinary expression of the African American diaspora."
"YOKED"
An independent presentation of choreography at "That Which Connects", Camden's Festival of Dance in 2018.
"RESPITE"
This piece was developed as a commissioned partnership between Mason Gross School of the Arts (Rutgers University) and CoLAB Arts, Inc. as an arts-based response to a community's need, challenge, or story. This work was created in collaboration with the constituents of MyGOAL Autism, Inc., an organization dedicated to the respite and support services for parents raising children on the autism spectrum. This is the first section of the work that was made entitled "Support", created to reflect the hearts and realities of some of the parents supported by MyGOAL. We thank you for watching.
